A lawyer in UK firm Ashurst's Abu Dhabi office has been the subject of a well-earned mocking after boasting about his status symbols to a local newspaper.

As reported by rollonfriday, the associate, Robin Hickman, first tried to gain readers' sympathy with tales of his father who wasn't well off. Oh, his father apparently still owned a squash club and a Porsche - but I'm sure it wasn't the latest model.

He then proceeded to discuss some of his own latest purchases, which included a Rolex Daytona - worth about a month's salary. "They are very rare because Rolex doesn't make many of them, and I found this one by chance in Bangkok. There is a five-year waiting list for these watches," he explained to anyone still reading. He also found a way to slip in a mention of his limited edition Boxster S R360 Spyder. ""I never expected to own a sports car at the age of 26. To say my dad was jealous is an understatement," he humbly explained.

A spokesperson from Ashurst gave it their best shot to distance the firm from the interview, saying "the interview was undertaken in a personal capacity, and our staff are at liberty to spend their salaries as they see fit".

Rollonfriday.com discussion board comments included: "What a twat", "Lets face it, he did this because he thought it would bag him some chicks", and "Sounds like a tool to me".

Sounds like a tool to Folklaw too.
