A US judge has ended up on the wrong side of the bench after being busted by a long-running undercover FBI sting involving exotic dancers, drugs and guns.

According to law.com, the federal senior judge's sordid life was revealed on the back of federal drug and gun charges stemming from an alleged series of liaisons with an exotic dancer.

Adding to his bad boy credentials, US District Senior Judge Jack Camp is apparently the first sitting judge in Georgia's Northern District to be arrested by FBI agents.

"We're in uncharted waters," said Camp's lead counsel, Atlanta defence attorney William Morrison.

FBI agents arrested Camp on a Friday night in the car park of Atlanta's Velvet Room after he and an exotic dancer (who was working as a confidential informant with the FBI) met with an undercover law enforcement agent to buy cocaine and Roxicodone, a prescription pain reliever.

FBI agents arrested Camp shortly after the dancer gave the undercover officer cash in exchange for a plastic bag containing several blue pills and a white powder, which the dancer then gave to Camp.

FBI agents then allegedly recovered two loaded guns from the front seat of Camp's vehicle.

Camp was released on a bond and will wait to appear before one of his colleagues, accompanied by his "very strong" (and Folklaw imagines "very angry") wife.
