LAW firm Minter Ellison has hired a Mallesons Stephen Jaques finance expert to its ranks, and appointed him partner.

Matthew Cunningham has joined the firm's Sydney finance practice, which already has 10 partners and 40 lawyers.

Minters Sydney practice group head, Paul Paxton, said Cunningham is already known by a number of the firm's key clients.

Cunningham holds a Bachelor of Civil Law from Oxford University, a Bachelor of Laws from Macquarie and a Bachelor of Economics, also from Macquarie.  He is admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of England and Wales, the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

The firm said that in addition to its Australian presence, finance specialists on the ground in Minter Ellison's London and Greater China offices enable the team to service clients' multi-jurisdictional finance transactions.
