DLA Piper has hired a patent specialist and intellectual property lawyer to its partnership in Melbourne.

Robynne Sanders, formerly the director of Watermark Intellectual Property Lawyers, joins the firm’s intellectual property and technology practice.

Sanders has done Federal Court patent litigation cases and dispute resolution, drafting licensing and manufacturing agreements and advising on confidentiality, trade mark disputes and branding, the firm said.

The new hire has previously advised clients in the engineering, building and construction and consumer products sectors on intellectual property issues. As well, in the biotechnology sector she has advised on pharmaceuticals for the treatment of diabetes, high cholesterol and cardiovascular conditions.

Tim Lyons, partner and head of the Melbourne Intellectual property and technology team, said his new colleague’s strength as a patent litigator and intellectual property dispute resolution specialist will up the firm’s intellectual property capabilities.
