Chris Ahern (pictured) is now partner-in-charge of Australia and Japan at Jones Day.

Mr Ahern was hired by the US firm in 2006 to launch its Australian practice.

Global disputes partner Tim L’Estrange, who was the general counsel of ANZ prior to joining Jones Day in 2013, will step into Mr Ahern’s role.

Projects partner John Cooper has been named as partner-in-charge of Jones Day Perth, which officially opened its doors on 1 April 2014.

Late last year, Jones Day recruited another Allens partner, Jim Parker, for the firm's energy practice in Sydney. The Sydney office also promoted counsel Greg Begaud, who specialises in major projects, to its partnership.
