Queensland welcomes 4 new magistrates
The Palaszczuk government has announced the appointment of four new magistrates: Mark Bamberry, Patrina Clohessy, Michelle Howard and Kyna Morice.
Queensland Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman extended her congratulations to the new magistrates as they start their new judicial roles. She commented that their wealth of legal knowledge and experience would be of substantial benefit to the bench. The new magistrates have been appointed to the courts of Beenleigh, Bowen, Dalby and Southport.

Magistrate Clohessy is currently a Deputy Crown Solicitor and chief counsel with Crown Law and has 25 years of experience working in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. She will commence her role in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court.
Magistrate Howard has worked in the legal field since 1986 and served as a senior member of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and as Queensland’s Public Advocate. She will move to the Bowen Magistrates Court after commencing her role in Brisbane.
Magistrate Morice joins the court with nearly two decades in the legal industry, previously a lawyer with Legal Aid Queensland. Her extensive judicial experience relates to matters in domestic and family violence, criminal law and mental health. Ms Morice will join the bench of Dalby Magistrates Court.
Magistrate Bamberry, who is also a current practising magistrate, has been added to the Southport Magistrates Court. His judicial career in criminal law, traffic law, commercial and property law and domestic violence matters has extended across 20 years.
“I warmly welcome our newest Queensland magistrates and wish them all the very best in their judicial careers,” commented the Attorney-General. “I have no doubt they will serve their community and ensure they have access to justice.”
Ms Clohessy, Ms Howard, Ms Morice and Mr Bamberry will formally commence their new positions on 22 August 2022.
