Forty-four new general members have been appointed to the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) as part of a newly announced cohort aimed at strengthening the tribunal’s capacity.

The new general members will span a range of areas within the ART and form part of the government’s ongoing efforts to build the newly established tribunal.

Established in 2024, the ART is an independent body responsible for reviewing a broad range of government decisions affecting Australians’ everyday lives, including visas, social security, and taxation matters.

In announcing the news, Attorney-General Michelle Rowland MP shared how the appointments will bolster the tribunal’s efficiency and effectiveness, as the government continues its commitment to delivering fair, just, and timely outcomes.

“The Albanese government is committed to ensuring the Administrative Review Tribunal can hear and resolve matters in a fair, just, and timely manner,” she said.

“The appointment of new general members will assist our efforts to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the tribunal.”

Rowland also congratulated the new members on their appointments, saying each had been selected through a “transparent and merit-based process”.

“Each general member was assessed as suitable for appointment through a transparent and merit-based process.

“I congratulate these general members on their appointments and thank them for their important service to the Australian public,” she said.

The new general members include Kylie Anderson, Dale Bampton, David Barker, Kathryn Bennett, Michelle Boyle, Steven Brnovic, Mitchell Bruce-Smith, Ian Campbell, Stephen Conwell, Katherine Cook, Katrina Cooper, Sarah Costanzo, Mark Cuomo, Jacqueline Dalling, Julia Davey, Gabrielle Déal, Maritsa Eftimiou, Anthony Erman, David Evenden, Amanda Forsyth, Tim Griffin, Simone Healy, Danielle Hikri, Kate Juttner, Reetu Kakkar, Nathan Kensey, Domenic Lipari, Hamish Locke, Scott MacKenzie, Colleen Martin, Janelle Martin, Paul McDonald, Laura McDonough, Emilia Nazari, Chuan Ng, Christopher Platt, John-Paul Redmond, Noel Reeves, Adrian Richards, Linda Rogers, Lauri Stewart, Stuart Sutherland, Reema Taouk, and Neha Vaidyanathan.

This news follows the Albanese government reappointing 11 general members to ART at the end of last year.
