MINTER Ellison has hired a Freehills senior associate and made him partner in the firm's busy equity markets practice group.

Daniel Scotti specialises in equity and hybrid capital raisings, including IPOs, placements, secondary offerings, rights issues and entitlement offers.

Head of Minter Ellisons' Sydney equity capital markets group, Martin Bennett, said Scotti "will assist us to meet the growing demand for capital raising services from our underwriter, corporate and fund clients".

Minters' ECM team recently advised on the Queensland Rail IPO, Mirvac's A$1 billion institutional and retail capital raising and Gloucester Coals A$450 million capital raising.

The firm's ECM team also recently advised the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in relation to the adoption of a new chapter of its listing rules to facilitate the listing of mining companies.

Scotti is the second partner hire Minter Ellison has made in two months, having announced the appointment of former Mallesons Stephen Jaques senior associate Matthew Cunningham to its finance group in February.
