Law firm Maddocks has hired a special counsel from rival firm Freehills.

LAW firm Maddocks has hired a special counsel from rival firm Freehills.

Timothy Atkin, has joined the firm as special counsel in its commercial dispute resolution group.

Before joining Maddocks, Atkin worked at Freehills where he acted for a number of major corporations including the Seven Network in the C7 case and for the owner of Sydney Airport in a $500M dispute with the NSW Government.

The appointment enhances the firm's national capability in handling complex and difficult contentious work, the firm said. The hire provides a competitive advantage in the growing field of alternative dispute resolution work.

David Rennick, Maddocks CEO, agreed with the firm's litigation partners that Atkin brings in depth expertise particularly in relation to the Australian consumer law

“Timothy will play an important role in further strengthening the national team to serve the needs of our clients in the government, infrastructure and finance and services sectors as well as handling matters for ASX listed corporates involving Corporations Act issues, transactions and other major commercial disputes.  We are delighted to have made the appointment,” Rennick said.
