HOPGOODGANIM has enhanced its expertise in international transactions with the appointment of a senior associate who hails from Clifford Chance, Minter Ellison and Freshfields.

Gavin Batcheler has joined HopgoodGanim as a senior associate in the firm’s resources and energy team, the firm said.

He brings with him a wealth of international experience, having worked in Australia, the UK, South East Asia and the Middle East for firms including Clifford Chance, Minter Ellison and a Saudi Arabian associate office of Freshfields.

Batcheler has experience in mergers and acquisitions, infrastructure development, general corporate and commercial matters, resources and major projects.

He has successfully advised multinational clients on cross border mergers and acquisitions and major projects across a range of industries including financial services, energy, water, automotive, transport, media and telecommunications, manufacturing and logistics. He also advises generally on restructuring and asset transfers.

Batcheler's appointment follows that of Josh Doig, another senior (overseas qualified) advisor with specialist expertise in resources and energy.

Doig hails from the Canadian city of Calgary, where he advised companies in the oil and gas, mining and power industries on a wide range of commercial legal issues.

His experience includes negotiating and drafting joint venture and partnership agreements, construction and general commercial contracts, and acquisition agreements.
