Pipers partner didn’t stay long

Pipers partner didn’t stay long

Piper Alderman has lost an intellectual property and technology partner to Sparke Helmore Lawyers.

Richard Chew (pictured) was with Pipers for only two and a half years before being appointed partner in Sparke Helmore’s Sydney office this week.

Chew specialises in domestic and offshore outsourcing, IT and telecommunications transactions, strategic procurement and sourcing, general commercial contracts, the internet and negotiated company and business mergers and acquisitions.

He has worked with clients within Australia and in the Asia Pacific region including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, India and China.

“We’re delighted to welcome Richard to our team”, said Sparke Helmore national managing partner Jesse Webb. “The combination of Richard’s legal and industry experience will bolster our IP and technology capabilities and enhance our client offering in Australia and the Asia Pacific.”

Pipers poached two new corporate partners from rival firms in July as well as adding another partner to the firm’s construction practice in August this year.
