Clayton Utz will appoint its national pro bono director, David Hillard, to partner in the firm, effective from 1 January 2006. The firm said the appointment was a first for a major commercial law firm, and recognised the significance of the firm’s pro bono practice. After three years working for the Anti-Discrimination Board of NSW, Hillard became Clayton Utz’s national pro bono coordinator in 1997.

The NSW Crown Solicitor has recently appointed Kate Burns as a senior solicitor in the community law practice group.
