Minter Ellison has appointed leading construction partner Ian Cocking. He joins the firm’s Asian construction practice in Hong Kong from Simmons & Simmons, bringing the number of construction fee earners on the ground there to 13. Based in Hong Kong since 1988, the firm said Cocking has had a key role in a diverse range of major construction and project development matters, regularly advising contractors, proprietors, government, financiers, consultants and insurers on their relationships, risk allocation and risk management strategies, claims and dispute resolution.

Mills Oakley Lawyers has appointed senior associate Lincoln Smith and solicitor Narelle Reed to further strengthen Alan Stockdale’s workplace relations team. Smith has extensive workplace relations experience as a lawyer, as well as valuable management experience. Reed has rounded experience as a workplace relations solicitor, law clerk and a legal assistant.

Corrs Chambers Westgarth has appointed Ian Oi as partner to the firm’s corporate advisory team in Canberra. Oi has more than 14 years experience and practises in intellectual property, information technology, telecommunications and e-business. He was a special counsel at Blake Dawson Waldron, and senior attorney and negotiator at IBM in Australia.
