Henry Herron has joined Clayton Utz as a special counsel with the litigation practice in Sydney. Herron specialises in insurance law, litigation and aviation product liability, and has been in practice for 37 years.

Employment and industrial law partner Darren Gardner has joined Maddocks Sydney office. His areas of practice include strategic industrial law, employment and industrial relations advice, anti-discrimination and harassment prevention. Gardner was previously at Cutler Hughes & Harris.

Specialist major projects lawyer Tim Burbury has joined Minter Ellison in Hong Kong. Burbury was previously at Johnson Stokes & Masters Hong Kong office.

ANZ Banking Group’s former deputy general counsel, Peter Stirling has returned to Blake Dawson Waldron in Melbourne. Prior to joining ANZ’s corporate strategy group in 1999, Stirling was a senior associate in Blakes’ Melbourne corporate group. He returns to the firm as a partner.

Jackson McDonald has announced the appointment of commercial lawyer, Dorothy Collins as a consultant with the firm. Previously a partner at Tottle Partners, she has broad experience including in corporate law, due diligence, ASX and ASIC compliance.

Tony Garrisson, formerly corporate counsel to Sportsco, has joined the Melbourne corporate and franchising firm Mason Sier Turnbull. The firm said Garrisson’s experience in franchising would complement their existing commercial, franchising and retail expertise.

Baker & McKenzie has recruited Bruce Hambrett as a partner to its litigation and insolvency practice in Sydney. He will start 28 June. Hambrett comes to Bakers from Minter Ellison where Bakers said he had held a number of key positions, including periods as managing partner and head of commercial litigation in the firm’s Sydney office.

Commercial law firm, Cowley Hearne Lawyers Pty Ltd, has recently appointed Adam Pope as a principal in its litigation department. He has a decade of practice experience in commercial dispute resolution.

Andrea Durbach has been appointed associate professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of NSW. In a cross-appointment, she will also take on the role of director of the Australian Human Rights Centre, an interdisciplinary research institute attached to the faculty.
