Mark Gillgren (finance, Perth) and Chad Bochan (finance, Sydney) have both been promoted to partner at Clifford Chance, as part of a global cohort of 26 lawyers elected to the partnership.

The promotions take effect on 1 May 2020.

Speaking about the new cohort of partners, firm global managing partner Matthew Layton said: It is a privilege to welcome such an outstanding team of people into the Clifford Chance partnership, where they will play a vital part in the long-term future of the firm.”

“Each and every one of them has proved themselves as an invaluable and trusted adviser for our clients, whether they are dealing with challenging times such as those so many businesses face today, or building for the long-term. I look forward to working with them, and all the fantastic people at Clifford Chance, as we work shoulder to shoulder with our clients and each other to build a better future,” he said.

It is precisely now, when so many organisations face fundamental challenges as a result of COVID-19, that our continued commitment to investing in people and our leading global capabilities remains as resolute and important as ever.

“Having the right people, with the right skills, and the right culture at the heart of our partnership puts us in the right place to support our clients when they need us most and is at the very core of the long-term success of the firm.

CC regional managing partner Geraint Hughes added that he was “delighted” to welcome the new partners in the Asia-Pacific region (five, including Mr Gillgren and Mr Bochan).

“Our new partners are all top-class professionals and are some of the best legal minds in our region. Their appointment emphasises the great bench of talent we have in Asia Pacific, our firm’s continued investment in this strategically important region, and the further strengthening of our offering, he said.

The firm’s Australian managing partner, Richard Gordon, said: Our Australian presence has never looked stronger with the addition of Mark and Chad and previous partner promotion of Nadia Kalic which [strengthen] our service to clients in Australia and the wider region.”

“In particular, I’d like to recognise their wonderful commitment and contribution to expanding our firm’s truly global reach and breadth of knowledge across our various practice areas.
