Award-winning partner appointed to Takeovers Panel
The federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has appointed a national firm’s head of corporate to a panel dedicated to resolving disputes on takeover bids.
Corrs Chambers Westgarth’s partner and head of corporate Sandy Mak has been appointed to the Takeovers Panel alongside two additional new panel appointments and 14 reappointments, all of whom will serve a three-year term.

The Takeovers Panel is the primary forum for resolving disputes about a takeover bid in Australia. It seeks to decide disputes by focusing primarily on commercial and policy issues. The panel now consists of 49 part-time members, which now includes Ms Mak, from across Australia’s takeovers and business communities.
Ms Mak is a leading M&A lawyer who has acted for both corporate and privacy equity clients across the globe on cross-border public and private matters, foreign investment, equity raisings, buy-backs and restructurings. According to the firm, Ms Mak also advises ASIC and ASX regulatory work and corporate governance issues.
She has taken away several awards for her work, including at the Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards and the 2020 Women in Law Awards.
