Lawyers Weekly, in partnership with our principal partner UNSW Law and Justice, is looking forward to hosting the black-tie gala ceremony on Friday, 12 August 2022, at the Australian Turf Club, Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney.

Nominations and submissions are closing this Friday, 3 June, so make sure you submit your entry or nominate a worthy colleague across over 40 individual and company categories.

The Australian Law Awards – which is returning for its 22nd year – brings together all demographics of the legal profession and acknowledges their ongoing efforts in not only propelling the legal industry forward but also making inroads in their own professional careers.

Moreover, the awards program showcases the depth of talent in law firms and organisations across the industry in Australia while recognising the achievements, contributions, and capabilities of individuals, firms, and organisations.

It is an opportunity for law firms, managing partners, general counsel, barristers, and legal scholars to distinguish themselves and strengthen their position while retaining and attracting the best talent and business.

The awards are peer-reviewed and judged by a well-respected and trusted panel. The judging criteria for award categories are both quantitative and qualitative, acknowledging growth, business development, diversity, leadership, innovation, business excellence and contribution to Australia’s legal sector.

This year, Lawyers Weekly is privileged to introduce new categories into the awards program, including:

  • Mediator/Arbitrator of the Year Award category, which recognises their outstanding performance either in a law firm or in a sole practice (including at the bar);
  • Litigator of the Year Award category, which recognises the outstanding achievements by a litigator at any level; and
  • Legal Operations Professional of the Year award category, which recognises outstanding performance by legal operations professionals at any level, either in-house or in a law firm.
Many other individual and group categories are returning for another year, including the Indigenous Leader of the Year award category and the Banking and Finance Team of the Year Award category for teams within law firms and firms that specialise in banking and finance.

Submit your entry or nominate a colleague whom you believe is worthy of recognition before Friday, 3 June, for the chance to walk home with a trophy at this year’s awards program.
