Max Door Solutions acquired by Bunka Shutter

Japan-based Bunka Shutter has continued to expand its growth into the Australian market with the addition of a third Australian company, Max Door Solutions.

Deal: Baker McKenzie has advised BX BUNKA AUSTRALIA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese company Bunka Shutter, on its acquisition of Max Door Solutions.

Value: Undisclosed

Key players: The Baker McKenzie legal team, involving the firm’s Tokyo and Sydney offices, was led by partners Yutaka Kimura, Ben McLaughlin and Lawrence Mendes and senior associates Masao Tozaki and Lizzie Lu, with assistance from Louise Lin and Rita Mikhael.

Deal significance: Bunka Shutter is a Japanese company that produces and sells various types of rolling shutters, house and building construction materials. Max Door Solutions is an Australian-owned and operated company that specialises in design, manufacture, sales and maintenance of a comprehensive range of industrial doors. This deal represents Bunka Shutter’s third acquisition in Australia.

The lead partner on the transaction based in Japan, Yutaka Kimura, said it represented a “terrific illustration of how our global firm operates seamlessly across borders, both in Japan and Australia”. 

The lead partner in Australia, Ben McLaughlin, added: “We were delighted to act for our client Bunka Shutter, in acquiring a leading Australian manufacturing business, Max Door Solutions – a manufacturer and seller of industrial doors. 

“The result of this deal, in combination with previous acquisitions, will further assist our client in achieving its growth plans in the Asia-Pacific region.”
