The firm has hired Jessica Jansen and Hilary Stokes as special counsel. The pair are based in Colin Biggers & Paisley’s Melbourne office.

Ms Jansen brings to the firm extensive experience in advising on insurance claims, particularly professional indemnity, financial lines and institutional liability claims.

In addition, she has advised on matters of financial services compliance and risk management and commercial and coverage disputes.

Meanwhile, Ms Stokes brings over 10 years of experience in professional indemnity insurance law and specialises in defending claims against solicitors and barristers. She also holds considerable experience advising on broader commercial litigation matters.

Colin Biggers & Paisley co-head of insurance Cathryn Prowse welcomed Ms Jansen and Ms Stokes to the firm, noting their experience will be of significant value to the team.

“Jessica and Hilary are both terrific additions to the insurance group,” Ms Prowse said.

“Their appointments have been made with our clients’ needs front of mind, and like the other senior lawyers we have welcomed over the last 12 months, they will be instrumental in the delivery of first-rate legal services to our clients and no-doubt foster growth in our focus areas.”

Commenting on her new role, Ms Jansen said: “I am excited to be joining the widely regarded team at Colin Biggers & Paisley. The team is a leader in the insurance space, and the cultural fit is excellent. I look forward to working with the team and supporting our clients.”

Ms Stokes echoed a similar sentiment. “Colin Biggers & Paisley’s insurance team has a strong reputation in the market for their client focus.

“Their client focus aligns with my values, and I am looking forward to working with Patrick Tuohey and the team in Melbourne.”
