HopgoodGanim names new head of cyber security
National law firm HopgoodGanim Lawyers has moved to consolidate its cyber security practice with the appointment of a new practice group head.

Steven Hunwicks (pictured) has been named as the new head of cyber security at HopgoodGanim, an appointment that – the firm said in a statement – comes at a time when managing cyber security risks and building cyber security resilience has never been more important and is at the forefront of our clients’ minds.

Mr Hunwicks currently serves as a special counsel in the firm’s IP, technology, and cyber security team. He has more than 20 years of legal and commercial experience advising businesses and the government on cyber security preparedness, cyber incident response, data privacy, and large-scale technology projects and contracting.
In his new role, he will be focused on leading HopgoodGanim’s cyber security offering to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients across the full cyber security life cycle, from cyber security preparedness through to incident response and recovery.
The news follows the firm’s promotion of 25 lawyers, including four to partner in late June and its appointment of a new chief risk officer and chief operating officer back in March.
The firm’s managing partner, Luke Mountford, said: “Steven brings a wealth of expertise and extensive knowledge in supporting our clients to solve the specific types of cyber challenges that they face.
“His appointment underlines the importance of this issue to our clients and the growth in this area of advice that HopgoodGanim has experienced in recent times.”
