Based in the firm’s Brisbane office, planning, local government and environmental lawyer Fraser Hardman has been appointed as a partner at Carter Newell.

Hardman has more than a decade of legal experience and joins the planning and environment practice at Carter Newell after being a special counsel at Mills Oakley.

Commenting on the appointment, chair of partners Paul Hopkins said that Hardman’s “practical and commercial strategic advice will reinforce the strong outcomes we achieve for clients when dealing with planning and environment matters”.

“Fraser’s high calibre of skill, diversified by his property and commercial law background, will be an exceptional asset for our clients and our team,” he said.

“We are delighted to welcome Fraser to Carter Newell.”

This comes after Carter Newell’s energy and resources team expanded, with special counsel Paul Toua joining in July from LOD.

Toua is admitted in both Australia and Papua New Guinea and has specific experience and expertise with energy and resources projects, having advised clients both nationally and internationally on oil and gas, mining and renewable energy projects.

Carter Newell CEO Marc Walker said the firm was “delighted to strengthen our team with both Fraser and Paul”.

“Their respective skills and histories in these highly specialised areas of law further supports Carter Newell’s demonstrated commitment to achieving excellent outcomes for our clients,” he said.
