Ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, Mullins Lawyers has signed a new 10-year lease and moved into a new office in Brisbane CBD, as well as added a new partner to its property team, who joins from global BigLaw firm Dentons.
Queensland-based firm Mullins Lawyers has added a new planning and environment partner as part of a strategic growth move ahead of Queensland’s infrastructure and property surge in the lead-up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
In addition, the firm has also signed a new 10-year lease and moved into a new office in Riverside Centre in Brisbane CBD, in a move the firm said reinforces its commitment to its future in the state.
New partner Mitchell Osborne joins from BigLaw firm Dentons and brings more than 17 years of experience to the firm.
His experience spans boutique, mid-tier and top-tier international law firms, as well as in-house legal roles at Brisbane City Council and secondments with Ergon Energy and Powerlink Queensland. He has particular expertise in planning, environment, construction and government matters, and is also a qualified town planner.
Osborne’s addition marks a significant expansion of the firm’s planning, environment and construction capabilities, according to managing partner Sam McIvor.
“Queensland is preparing for a once-in-a-generation infrastructure and property boom as we look towards the 2032 Olympics. Mitchell’s expertise, skills and commercial approach aligns with Mullins’ commitment to supporting our clients through this transformative period,” he said.
“His deep expertise and understanding of government, construction and development make him a valuable addition to our partnership.”
This comes after the promotion of two partners earlier this month, as well as the firm’s promotion of eight to more senior positions, including two to the partnership, at the end of December, the appointment of a new managing partner in November, and the addition of a chief operating officer and chief financial officer in September.
This also comes as Mullins moves into a new office in Riverside Centre, after first moving into the building in 2009.
The firm has now moved onto a full floor on level 21 of the building and partnered with Growth Workplace Design to design a new bespoke fit-out. The new office combines flexible workspaces, integrated technology, and wellness-focused design with a client-centric layout.
“We were very focused on delivering a modern and functional office space that reflects our firm’s identity and culture, as well as supporting our aspirations for the future,” McIvor said.
“Partnering with another Queensland business was a natural choice for us. Growth understood our core values and transformed them into a forward-thinking, people-centric design that aligns with our vision to provide a sustainable modern working environment for our people that will support our growth aspirations over at least the next decade.”
