Juanita Maiden and Rachel Lusis (both pictured) have been elevated to the partnership at Mullins Lawyers, in recognition of their “exceptional contributions to their clients and the firm”.

The appointments bolster the Brisbane-based firm’s expertise in two key practice areas – sports law and wills and estates – bringing extensive knowledge and leadership to the firm’s expanding partnership.

Maiden joined Mullins in 2021 as a special counsel in the sports law sector, bringing over 25 years of legal and executive experience, having advised clients on governance, commercial agreements, disputes and tribunal matters.

She holds prominent roles across several key sporting industry bodies, including serving as a board director of Queensland Cricket, deputy chair of the International Rugby League Judiciary, and as a member of the National Sports Tribunal Legal Assistance Panel.

Lusis has been a key member of Mullins’ wills and estates team for the past two years, holding roles as senior associate and special counsel.

With over 15 years of experience in this practice area, she advises clients on family provision applications, contested probate matters, superannuation disputes, and complex estate administration issues.

Speaking on these internal promotions, Sam McIvor, managing partner at Mullins, said: “These appointments reflect not only Juanita and Rachel’s technical expertise and commitment to outstanding client service but also the leadership they demonstrate within our firm and the wider legal profession.

“We are proud to welcome them to our partnership and look forward to their contribution to the firm’s ongoing growth and success.”

This news follows the firm’s promotion of eight to more senior positions, including two to the partnership, at the end of December, the appointment of a new managing partner in November, and the addition of a chief operating officer and chief financial officer in September.
