Global BigLaw firm Kennedys has promoted four lawyers to special counsel and seven to senior associate, across its Melbourne and Sydney offices.
In its latest promotion round, Kennedys Australia elevated 11 of its lawyers and senior lawyers – promoting a further 76 across its global offices.
Kennedys is a global litigation and dispute resolution firm operating in Australia since 2006, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane.
Kennedys global managing partner Meg Catalano said: “I would like to both congratulate and thank those promoted for their talent, dedication, and commitment to our clients. I wish them every success in their new roles, and look forward to seeing their careers go from strength to strength.”
Nick Driver, Kelly Grant, and George Abraham from the firm’s Melbourne office and Ben Forrest from its Sydney office were promoted from senior associate to senior counsel.
Millie Clayton, Amy Diu, Patrick King, Nick Paterson, James Schade, Declan See, and Sophie Steele from the Kennedys insurance and liability practices in Melbourne and Sydney were promoted to senior associate.
Senior partner John Bruce said: “We will continue to build an ambitious, sustainable, high-performance culture at Kennedys in which career progression is both visible and attainable.”
Lawyers Weekly reported on the firm’s 21 partner promotions earlier this year, which was the firm’s largest cohort since 2022. The firm noted that this round marked its sixth consecutive year of “double-digit promotions”.
Globally, the firm elevated 31 senior associates to special counsel, and 45 lawyers were promoted to senior associates.
“This global cohort showcases the exceptional quality of our international bench strength, with our people firmly at the heart of our continued growth,” Catalano said.
In June, the firm hit a revenue record of £428 million for FY2024–25 and appointed former NatWest Group COO Tracy Watkinson as its inaugural chief operating officer.
“These promotions reflect our ongoing investment in our people and our commitment to providing the opportunities and recognition they deserve,” Bruce said.
