Partner Kim Hodge and special counsel Steve Bowler have moved together from Squire Patton Boggs to Sparke Helmore.

Commenting on the move, Hodge said he was pleased to commence the “next chapter of my career”.

“It was important for me to join a firm with a clearly defined strategy for growth and success,” Hodge said.

“I look forward to working alongside a team renowned for its expertise and strengthening the firm’s offerings in work health and safety, workplace relations and employment, both in Perth and nationally.”

Hodge’s expertise is in industrial relations, employment, and human resources matters, having advised on contentious and non-contentious matters before a number of commissions and courts, including the Fair Work Commission and the Federal Court.

His practice has covered enterprise bargaining and disputes, unfair and unlawful terminations, complex and sensitive workplace investigations, redundancies and performance management, restraints of trade, workplace health and safety, general protections claims, and discrimination matters.

Hodge’s clients extend across a number of different industries, including mining and resources, retail, engineering, utilities, education, life sciences, not-for-profit, and public and local government sectors.

Previously, Hodge covered frontline human resources and employee relations roles for a major Australian resources company, having worked as a labour market economist and a workplace and labour relations inspector for a public sector agency.

National practice group leader for workplace Catherine Wilkinson said Hodge and Bowler were “highly regarded” experts.

“Their addition to our team supports the continued growth and expansion of our workplace practice,” Wilkinson said.
