Are you one of the top M&A dealmakers in Australia? Following the success of the inaugural M&A Dealmakers ranking last year, we are once again inviting submissions for the best dealmakers in Australia for 2026.
Lawyers Weekly is pleased to announce the return of the M&A Dealmakers ranking for 2026, which shines a light on the top-performing dealmakers across the legal profession in Australia during FY2025–26.
The M&A Dealmakers ranking – now in its second year – recognises the legal professionals who advised on major M&A transactions over the past year, and helped shape the most significant deals in the Australian market.
M&A Dealmakers 2026 will spotlight those professionals driving high-impact transactions across the country, from boutique specialists and independent lawyers to those within national and enterprise firms.
The ranking recognises the hard work and dedication of lawyers behind Australia’s largest mergers and acquisitions deals who are shaping industries, businesses, and markets. This has become more critical than ever as M&A lawyers play a vital role in shaping the broader economic market and driving business growth. They also help steer the ship in businesses, which continue to contend with geopolitical conflicts, fluctuating inflation and interest rates, and cost-of-living pressures.
From complex acquisitions and strategic restructures to high-value cross-border deals, this ranking champions the lawyers influencing Australia’s transactions landscape across firms of all sizes.
As reputation gains importance in an increasingly competitive legal market, recognition in this ranking provides industry validation of the deal activities carried out by legal professionals, as well as their expertise and market impact. Securing a ranking could strengthen your profile with clients, peers, and referrers.
All eligible legal professionals are encouraged to register and submit to the M&A Dealmakers 2026 ranking by close of business on Friday, 14 August 2026, for a chance to be included in the list of top dealmakers nationwide.
To complete your submission for the 2025 to 2026 financial year ending 30 June 2026, you’ll need the following figures:
Total number of deals advised on.
Total transaction value.
Industry spread of deals.
Value across industries.
Cross-border transaction involvement.
You will also need to upload a supporting document confirming your deal activity, including deal name, date, value, sector, and your role.
Each entrant must upload the deal information and verification template provided, clearly outlining details of each individual deal advised on during FY25–26. Submissions will not be accepted without this verification document.
If you’ve played a key role in significant transactions this year, this is your opportunity to showcase your results and have your hard work recognised.
Submissions close strictly by COB on Friday, 14 August 2026.
When you’ve completed your submission, be sure to click the “SUBMIT ENTRY” button at the end, or your submission will be shown as incomplete and won’t be accepted.
