A practitioner known for her deep technical expertise and reputation in the indirect tax market has joined Mallesons.
Before moving into the BigLaw firm, highly experienced indirect tax practitioner Sarah Shaw was a partner at EY for just under two years, and spent three and a half years at KPMG.
Shaw has also worked for MinterEllison and Ashurst.
Mallesons executive partner Renae Lattey said Shaw is “one of Australia’s leading indirect tax practitioners, with deep technical expertise and an outstanding reputation in the market”.
“Her commercial approach makes her an excellent addition to our partnership and a valuable asset for our clients,” Lattey said.
Working from both Sydney and Melbourne, Shaw advises clients on indirect tax issues arising in mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, privatisations, restructurings, capital raisings, funds, leasing and financial arrangements.
The appointment will enhance Mallesons’ tax practice, which consistently advises on significant and complex transactions, projects and disputes across M&A, real estate, private capital, energy and financial services matters, and more.
Practice leader of tax, Darren McClafferty, said the team was “delighted” to welcome Shaw to Mallesons.
“Sarah will provide strong leadership of our market-leading national indirect tax practice, which continues to grow to support our clients on the commercial transactions and financing arrangements that matter,” McClafferty said.
