BigLaw firm Moray & Agnew has expanded its practice through the acquisition of a respected Cairns boutique commercial law firm.
National BigLaw commercial law firm Moray & Agnew has acquired Devenish Law in Cairns.
Devenish Law, led by partner Stephen Devenish and special counsel Shane Devenish, has established a strong reputation for delivering practical, commercially focused legal advice and effective dispute resolution services to business owners, property owners, body corporates, management rights owners, indigenous organisations, and individuals seeking expert assistance with wills and estate planning, Moray & Agnew said in a statement.
Devenish Law’s practice aligns closely with the capabilities of Moray & Agnew’s Cairns team, creating strong synergies across commercial law, property, litigation and dispute resolution, and wills and estates.
The acquisition strengthens the BigLaw firm’s presence in North Queensland, after the firm acquired another Cairns-based boutique law firm last year, enhancing its ability to support clients throughout the region.
Speaking about the acquisition, Moray & Agnew’s managing partner in Cairns, Andrew Kerr, highlighted that the team was working closely with Devenish Law to ensure a smooth transition.

The move will be effective 6 October 2026.
