Dentons has bolstered its national energy, resources, and infrastructure practice with the appointment of an experienced projects partner.
Jack Brumpton has been appointed as a partner at BigLaw firm Dentons, within its national projects and energy and infrastructure sector.
Brumpton joins the firm from DLA Piper, where he was a partner for over three years.
The move comes after Dentons conducted a flurry of promotions in July, in which 23 senior lawyers were promoted, including two partners.
Working closely with colleagues located across Australia and the Asia Pacific region, Brumpton will be based in Brisbane, bringing extensive experience advising clients across the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors.
Brumpton has advised on a broad range of matters including energy and infrastructure project development, project acquisitions and divestments, joint ventures, commercial contracting, regulatory and approvals frameworks, energy transition initiatives and emerging energy technologies.
Recognised for his work on complex and first-of-their-kind projects, Brumpton has advised on significant upstream oil and gas, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), renewable energy, hydrogen, battery storage, energy transmission, offshore wind, carbon market, and sustainable development projects across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
He has also previously served as in-house counsel at SunCable, advising on the Australia-Asia PowerLink Project.
Commenting on his appointment, Brumpton emphasised his excitement for the broader energy sector.
“I’m delighted to join Dentons at such an important and exciting time for both the firm and for the broader energy sector,” Brumpton said.
“Dentons’ energy, resources and infrastructure team brings together strong expertise spanning the entire project lifecycle.
“I look forward to working with clients on the opportunities and challenges shaping Australia’s future.”
Business unit leader and partner Marcus Graham noted that the addition of Brumpton reflects the firm’s investment in the expanding energy space.
“Jack’s appointment reflects our continued investment in sectors that are driving significant growth and transformation across Australia,” Graham said.
“His deep energy sector expertise, commercial mindset and experience advising on market-leading projects will further enhance the value we deliver to our clients.”
Dentons’ Australian chair and Australasia CEO, Amber Warren, recognised Brumpton’s experience within his field, noting that it would be an important addition for the firm’s clients.
“Jack is widely respected for his work across the region in energy, resources and major projects,” Brumpton said.
“As governments, investors, developers and asset owners navigate the opportunities arising from the energy transition and increasing infrastructure investment, Jack’s experience will be invaluable to our clients achieving their commercial objectives.”
