Global law firm White & Case has elevated 47 lawyers to its partnership, including one Down Under, as the firm moves to invest heavily in its US operations.
White & Case has named 47 new partners, 40 per cent of whom practice in the United States. The promotions will be effective as of 1 January 2027.
The new cohort of partners spans 13 practices across 21 offices in 13 countries, and, the firm said, reflects its commitment to developing internationally experienced talent and its strategic ambition to operate as a cohesive global powerhouse that delivers exceptional results for clients.
The new Australian partner is Ashleigh Tang, currently serving as a counsel in the firm’s financial restructuring and insolvency group.
She has, the firm’s website reads, significant experience implementing high-profile restructuring transactions in Australia and internationally, on either a consensual basis or utilising formal insolvency processes, and her practice encompasses distressed investing strategies and outcomes, including debt to equity conversion transactions, debt trading, and loan portfolio acquisitions and workouts.
Speaking about the new partners, White & Case chair Heather McDevitt said: “Our new partners are excellent lawyers who deliver exceptional results for clients. Their talent, judgment and commitment will strengthen our Firm and support our continued growth.
“We’re proud of what they have achieved and excited for what they’ll bring to our clients as we help them navigate their most complex matters with depth, cohesion and confidence.”
The news follows the firm’s addition of two partners from BigLaw rival Mallesons (then King & Wood Mallesons) back in January and March of this year.
