Global legal tech provider Harvey has appointed the former chief digital and AI officer at BigLaw firm MinterEllison as a legal innovation partner.
Gary Adler (pictured) has joined Harvey and will lead the global provider’s legal innovation function across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, advising the legal community on AI transformation while helping shape Harvey’s product roadmap and strategy, “through his experience and insight from across the region”.
He brings, Harvey said in a statement, nearly two and a half decades of experience, including over 11 years as the chief digital and AI officer at MinterEllison. He currently serves as an advisory panel member for Anika Legal, and as a non-executive director for AccessEAP.
His experience in leading digital and AI transformation, the provider said, will inform both how Harvey advises the legal community and how Harvey is built, connecting the strategic, operational and cultural realities of legal work with Harvey’s product roadmap.
“As a trusted advisor to leaders across the community, including CIOs, GCs, law firm partners and chief AI officers, he’ll help organisations design and execute practical AI strategies, from establishing governance and planning rollouts to measuring success and supporting lasting adoption. He’ll also represent Harvey within the broader legal innovation community, bringing insights from across APAC directly into product direction and strategy,” the provider said.
The news follows Harvey’s appointment of Stewart Garrett as its vice president in APAC, as reported late last month.
Adler said: “After 24 years on the buyer’s side, I know what it takes for legal AI to make a real impact.”
“Harvey’s investment in the strategy and change needed to make AI successful is what drew me here. The legal profession is moving beyond AI experimentation to reinventing how legal work gets done, and I wanted to help shape that transition.”
“My ambition is to help law firms, in-house teams, courts and universities across APAC move forward together, bringing Harvey’s global insights to the region and ensuring APAC’s realities directly shape our product and strategy.”
