US-based insurance firm Ironshore International has promoted William Lewis (pictured) to managing director of Ironshore Australia Pty Ltd. Mr Lewis was formerly an executive director of the firm, and will continue in his other role as head of mergers and acquisitions for the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr Lewis began his career as a private equity and tax lawyer, working at PwC, Weil, Gotshal & Manges and Allen & Overy before joining Ironshore in 2012 as M&A manager in Sydney. He specialises in private equity transactions, tax structuring and insurance, according to a statement from Ironshore.
“We are pleased to announce that William will assume the role of leading our multi-line insurance offerings throughout the Australia and New Zealand markets,” said Hui Yun Boo, managing director of Ironshore Asia-Pacific.
“His proven expertise and recognised leadership in structuring insurance coverage solutions for complex risks have made him a valuable member of our regional team.”
The firm said that while Mr Lewis will no longer be dealing with specific legal issues, his background in the law will be invaluable in his new role.
