Kim joins the firm’s Hong Kong office from her old post at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, where she had been a real estate partner in New York since 1997.
“This is an important additional element to our service offering in Asia. [Kim] gives us an opportunity to offer a dedicated and highly experienced real estate advisory service to clients in Asia, as well as international clients who are in the Asian property sector,” Barbara Mok, partner-in-charge of Jones Day Hong Kong, said.
“[Kim’s] energy, calibre of experience and knowledge in all facets of the real estate industry make her the ideal leader of our team.”
Kim is a member of the Board of Visitors of Georgetown University, the School of Foreign Service and a member of the Advisory Board for Center for Hope (Haiti). She is also an adjunct professor at the KDI School of Management and Policy in Seoul, Korea, where she lectures on real estate securities; REITs and Beyond.
“We welcome [Kim’s] arrival,” said Bob Lee, co-chair of Jones Day’s global real estate practice.
“Her background in real estate mergers and acquisitions, complex financings and hotel and shopping centre developments, and her recent focus on real estate private equity transactions, cross border investments and corporate restructurings in Asia-Pacific are a perfect fit for the needs of our clients when investing in those markets,” he said.
