Freehills has announced the appointment of Les Stein in its national environmental and planning group. The firm said he is one of Australia’s most highly regarded planning lawyers and litigators, and former chief counsel for the Sydney Metropolitan Strategy. He will start in his new role on 31 January next year.
Gadens Lawyers has appointed Catherine Oates Smith as its new business development manager. Formerly an advisor to Divonne Holmes a Court’s Smart Population Foundation, Oates Smith will be responsible for providing drive and structure to the marketing strategy of the firm. Prior to her current appointment, she worked as a solicitor in Sydney and London, specialising in corporate finance and insolvency.
Nick Diacos has joined Middletons Lawyers’ Sydney office as a partner in the firm’s banking & finance group. He has more than 18 years experience in the banking and finance sector with a particular emphasis on transactional matters involving securitisation, project infrastructure and acquisition finance.
RAJ Lawyers has appointed Maria Yun as a solicitor in its property litigation division based in the firm’s Sydney office. She has worked in private practice, government and in-house. Yun recently came from Gillis Delaney Brown where she practised in the areas of commercial transactions and commercial litigation, specialising in contractual disputes, trade practices, debt recovery and insolvency.
Sceales & Company have appointed Bill Manning, formerly of Allens Arthur Robinson, as a consultant specialising in the area of resources law.
Chris Bromhead has joined ING Australia Limited as corporate counsel.
