Finalists named for Corporate Counsel Awards 2024

Lawyers Weekly and principal partner Lawyers on Demand are pleased to unveil this year’s finalists for the Corporate Counsel Awards and announce some dynamic changes to award categories.

The Corporate Counsel Awards is an unparalleled program that champions in-house legal professionals and legal teams who are propelling the industry forward and dedicating themselves to achieving positive outcomes for their organisations.

A total of 158 finalists have been chosen to compete for this year’s awards across 19 individual and 13 group categories.

Winners of the Corporate Counsel Awards will be announced at a black-tie gala ceremony on Thursday, 2 May 2024, at The Star, Sydney.

Finalists across Individual award categories include lawyers working in fields such as agribusiness, construction and real estate, defence, security, and/or cyber, technology, and travel, tourism, and hospitality.

Group finalists include government teams, professional services teams, healthcare teams, and sports and entertainment teams.

Not-for-profit lawyers and legal teams have also been acknowledged for their efforts to ensure their organisation successfully serves some of Australia’s most vulnerable. They include in-house lawyers who work in all types of not-for-profit organisations, including social enterprises and charities.

The highest-scoring individual award winner will receive the coveted Excellence Award at the end of the awards ceremony.

Furthermore, for the first time, the traditional Technology, Media and Telecommunications Lawyer of the Year award category has been divided into two categories.

These categories will now be known as Media and Telecommunications Lawyer of the Year and Technology Lawyer of the Year.

While the former category has five finalists this year, 10 finalists have been chosen to compete in the latter award category.

Secondly, the Financial Services Lawyer of the Year category has been split into two categories and will now be known as Financial Services Lawyer of the Year – Large Business and Financial Services Lawyer of the Year – SME Business.

Winners of the Corporate Counsel Awards will be announced at the black-tie gala ceremony on Thursday, 2 May 2024, at The Star, Sydney.

The ceremony presents an opportunity for legal professionals to network with industry leaders, as well as their colleagues and peers.
