Queensland-based law firm Mullins has launched a family law practice, appointing a seasoned lawyer with over a decade of experience to lead the development of this new area of service.
Commercial law firm Mullins has broadened its service offering with the launch of a new family law practice, a development the firm said underscores its ongoing “strong growth trajectory”.
To support the growth and management of this new practice area, the Queensland-based firm has appointed Pierce Carstensen to lead the new family law practice.
Carstensen joins Mullins from McInnes Wilson Lawyers, where he founded and led their family law team for more than a decade.
In a statement, the commercial law firm stated that Carstensen possesses expertise in complex property settlements, parenting matters and financial agreements.
Speaking about his appointment, Carstensen expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to help shape Mullins’ new family law practice.
“I’m excited to join Mullins at a time of growth and momentum and to build a family law offering that puts the client’s desired outcome at the centre of everything we do,” said Carstensen.
In addition to starting up this new practice area and hiring a lawyer to build it, Mullins has also appointed Justin McInally as a partner within its property team.
With more than 20 years of experience, the Queensland-based firm noted that he brings expertise in major acquisitions, leasing, and large-scale development projects – positioning him well to advise clients amid Queensland’s ongoing infrastructure and property boom.
According to managing partner Sam McIvor, the appointments are part of the firm’s efforts to respond to the changing legal needs of its clients and the broader Queensland market.
“We’re focused on supporting our clients by acquiring the best legal talent in order to support their evolving needs and to assist them navigate the increasingly complex legal landscape,” McIvor said.
“Our firm is very well respected across our core industries, and we will continue to invest in our firm and our operations to achieve sustainable growth as we focus on increasing the depth and quality of our legal expertise.”
This news follows the firm hiring a partner to its property team, who joined from global BigLaw firm Dentons at the end of May, and the promotion of two partners in the same month.
