Two new lawyers have joined DLA Phillips Fox's Brisbane office in the corporate and project finance teams.

With more than 20 years of experience in corporate and commercial law, Greg Clifton has been appointed as special counsel in the corporate team.

Clifton has extensive experience advising on takeovers, mergers and acquisitions and capital raisings and has advised on a number of high profile transactions including UniTAB's takeover bid for TAB Limited and merger with Tatts Group, takeovers of Queensland Cotton and Colorado Group and the recapitalisation of Transpacific Industries Group.

Between 1995 and 2001 Clifton was general counsel at Racing Victoria and prior to his legal career he spent six years as a tax advisor with an international accounting firm.

Also joining the firm is infrastructure and project finance lawyer Michelle Gaze, as senior associate.

With a particular focus on public-private partnerships (PPP), Gaze will be working closely with leading PPP lawyer Alex Guy, who joined DLA Phillips Fox from DLA Piper UK in January.

Gaze has acted on major projects across a range of sectors including energy and resources, utilities, education, health and transport and her clients include project sponsors, senior funders, government bodies and contractors.
