DLA Piper has this week announced the promotion of 53 of its staff to the position of partner across a range of practice areas and 18 countries.

In Asia, seven partner promotions were made with five in China, including two in Beijing and three in Hong Kong, one in Singapore and one in Japan.

Those joining the firm's partnership in Asia include Sammy Fang and Richard Wageman in Beijing; Edward Chatterton, Jolyon Ellwood-Russell and Brett Stewien in Hong Kong; Biswajit Chatterjee in Singapore and Daniel W Lee in Japan.

Globally, the firm's litigation and regulatory group saw the largest intake of new partners with 14 promotions.

Corporate and finance both saw 12 promotions, followed by intellectual property and technology with nine, real estate with three, restructuring with two and employment, pensions and benefits with one.

There were 18 partner promotions across Europe including three in the Netherlands, Belgium and Norway, while the Paris office grew by two.

There were 17 promotions in the US, 12 across the UK and one in the Middle East.
