Lavan Legal has appointed eight lawyers to senior associate and associate roles throughout a variety of practice groups.
Mona Gill, who joined Lavan in 2007, wasappointed senior associate in corporate services. Gill previously worked for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) in Victoria in financial services regulation and compliance and is currently completing a Masters of Laws - Taxation with the University of NSW.
Ben Wotherspoon has a range of experience advising on property, finance, taxation and deceased estates, and was appointed as associate in corporate services.
Litigation lawyer Greg Nairn hasappeared as counsel on appeals before the High Court of Australia and the Court of Appeal (WA) and represented clients at coronial inquests. He was appointed senior associate in Lavan's construction and contracts team, while Philip Hassett, an experienced litigator inproperty law and liquor licensing law, was promoted to associate in the same group.
Tamara Hengwas appointed senior associatein the firm's property services group, along with associate Tim Morgan, for her experience acting for major corporations, high net worth individuals and government departments in the acquisition and disposal of assets. Morgan also advises on land development and financing for projects and has specialist experience in Strata Titles Act compliance.
New recruit Delara Sarbanwas appointed as associate in the media, defamation and privacy team within Lavan. Her previous experience in a boutique media and litigation firm saw her advising on potential issues in print articles, cartoons and broadcasts such as defamation, contempt of court, copyright, trademarks, trade practices and privacy issues.
Kara Thorntonalso has experience in this area andwas appointed associate in the commercial advice and litigation group. Thornton specialises in matters involving contractual disputes, public liability, product liability, personal injury matters - including proceedings of dust disease and asbestos litigation - defamation and general insurance litigation.
