DLA Piper has appointed former Norton Rose special counsel Troy Doyle as a partner in its Singapore office.

The firm announced today (7 October) that the restructuring lawyer with more than 13 years experience in the Asia Pacific region will lead the firm's restructuring and distressed investment team in Asia.

Doyle was formerly a special counsel working with partner David Goldman who leads the distressed debt and investments group for Norton Rose. Prior to this, Doyle was the restructuring practice leader at Clifford Chance for South East Asia.

Doyle, who specialises in financial restructuring and insolvency advice, as well as distressed M&As and debt trading, said he was attracted by the global reach and fully integrated services at DLA Piper and the opportunities to broaden his practice.

"As the lead partner for Asia, I will be working closely with my counterparts in the US, UK, Europe and Australia," said Doyle.

The Asia regional managing partner of DLA Piper, Lance Miller, said "distressed investment opportunities are likely to be growing in scale and number given the ongoing volatility in financial markets and economic uncertainty combined with increased cross-border business in the region".

"Troy will be an important leader in developing an international restructuring practice for the firm and will play a significant role aligning our Asia Pacific objectives with DLA Piper globally," he said.
