The head of Minter Ellison’s Adelaide M&A practice, Gerry Cawson, has joined boutique firm Kain Corporate and Commercial Lawyers (Kain C+C).

Cawson joins the Adelaide-based, 13-lawyer firm after 20 years working in top-tier firms in London, Hong Kong, Sydney and most recently, Adelaide.

Before leading Minters’ M&A practice and a team of nine lawyers, Cawson worked at Allens Arthur Robinson in Sydney and CMS Cameron McKenna in London and Hong Kong.

Cawson advises on private equity transactions and has a focus on the financial services and wealth management sectors.

“Gerry is extremely well-regarded by the clients he works for, as well as by his peers,” said Kain C+C’s founder John Kain.

At Kain C+C, Cawson will advise on all aspects of Australian corporate and M&A law, including fundraising and joint ventures.
Cawson said Kain C+C’s “technical abilities, its approach to client service and their practical and pragmatic style” fit with his own approach.

Cawson is the South Australian co-coordinator of the Australian Venture Capital Association and is a regular contributor of articles to the commercial press on corporate law, M&A and private equity issues.
