In a statement last week, Attorney-General Michelle Rowland named 11 new senior member appointments to the ART, who she said will help ensure all cases are heard fairly, effectively, and efficiently while ensuring that the tribunal’s work remains accessible and responsive to the diverse needs of all parties.

Each senior member, the A-G continued, was appointed in accordance with section 208 of the Administrative Review Tribunal Act 2024 and was assessed as suitable for appointment by an independent, merits-based assessment panel in accordance with the act and the Administrative Review Tribunal Regulations 2024.

The ART’s newest senior members are Christian Carney, Robyn Curnow, Dr Stewart Fenwick, Maria Gagliardi, Dr Khanh Hoang, Samira Kamandi, Maxina Martellotta, Lara Proske, Natalie Purcell, Andrew Verduci, and Dr Greg Weeks.

Rowland said: “The Administrative Review Tribunal plays an important role in reviewing decisions that directly affect the everyday lives of Australians.

“These appointments will strengthen the tribunal’s capacity to deal with complex matters and promote high-quality and consistent decision-making.

“I congratulate these senior members on their appointments and thank them for their important service to the Australian public.”

Launched in 2024, the ART is an independent body responsible for reviewing decisions affecting the lives of Australians.
