As a lawyer he built up considerable senior legal management expertise, holding the positions of managing regional director of DLA Phillips Fox in Melbourne and managing director of South Australian firm Ross & McCarthy.

He also has extensive experience as a management consultant, having advised professional groups such as legal, engineering, medical, accounting and patent attorney firms. He has also assisted in the growth of companies in the health, manufacturing, finance, education, IT and government sectors.
