Following on from a successful career at the Australian Government Solicitor’s office and 20 years of experience working on complex litigation matters, Donna Boyce has joined the Sydney-based Blackwattle Legal team.

Commenting on the new position, Ms Boyce said she was excited to bring a commercial approach to the complex client challenges at Blackwattle Legal.

“The proposition is an exciting one for senior lawyers who are looking for flexibility coupled with quality work and clients. As a boutique outfit, Trevor and the team work on some outstanding matters, without the often stifling environment within some larger firms who traditionally service high-profile clientele,” Ms Boyce said.

Firm founder and partner Trevor Withane said that as the market gets more competitive and many lawyers – but particularly senior female lawyers – leave BigLaw, “moving in-house is not the only option” left.

“At Blackwattle Legal, we value commercially, autonomy, and we work on some of the highest profile and complex matters in the market. We also offer true flexibility and opportunity to develop. In short, whilst we are ‘boutique’, we are not unsophisticated. I see our offering as unique to both clients and lawyers.

“Law firms need to be able to demonstrate agility and innovation in their approach as employers, and in their delivery of professional services. That is exactly what we provide at Blackwattle Legal. Attracting the likes of Donna is testament to the quality and flexibility of our offering,” Mr Withane commented.
