Merlehan Group has appointed Nathan Chalmers as its first associate director, bringing with him nearly a decade’s worth of experience in infrastructure, energy and resources.

Mr Chalmers returns to Merlehan Group from Clayton Utz, where he was a senior member of the big six’s projects and construction team.

Throughout his career, Mr Chalmers has advised on contract negotiation matters, drafting, project delivery issues management and dispute resolution, with a particular emphasis on advising major project owners, joint venturers, and contractors in resolving significant disputes, a statement provided by Merlehan Group said.

He has also acted for clients involved in sensitive public inquiries, it added.

Merlehan Group managing director Adam Merlehan welcomed Mr Chalmers back to the fold, noting his expertise will be of significant value.

“I am pleased to welcome Nathan’s appointment to the firm. It is particularly pleasing to see our alumni being attracted back to the firm and someone of Nathan’s calibre in a leadership position at the firm,” Mr Merlehan said.

“Nathan will deliver practical solutions and leading advice to the firm’s construction, energy and infrastructure sector clients, working behind the scenes of their major projects to see them delivered successfully.”

Mr Merlehan said Mr Chalmers’ appointment comes at a critical juncture for the firm.

“Merlehan Group prides itself on discreetly guiding our clients through their most important transactions and projects, resolving their business-critical problems and responding to controversial developments through our unique offering of top-tier legal representation and strategic insight beyond the law.

“Nathan’s appointment only adds to our unique offering, and I look forward to his contribution to the leadership and growth of the firm,” he said.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Chalmers said: “I am looking forward to continuing to grow Merlehan Group as a leading and respected adviser to major clients in the market, and I am looking forward to connecting with clients, new and old, to achieve the great results that the firm is known for.”
