Alongside a new general manager, Brisbane firm Green Mortgage Lawyers appointed a lawyer to head up its commercial lending team.
Lindsay Johnston (LJ) has been appointed general manager of Green Mortgage Lawyers, a banking and finance firm that recently stepped out of Gadens Brisbane, and has expanded its team from 150 to 175.
The new general manager has decades of experience across retail and commercial banking, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, asset sales, and financial leadership, the firm announced.
Managing partner Craig Green said LJ was a “natural fit”.
“His expertise bridges the commercial realities of banking with the technical discipline of legal lending.
“He understands the pressures our clients face and brings a sharp commercial lens to everything we do,” Green said.
On his appointment, LJ said he has a “unique lens” that allows him to “bridge both sides of the transaction”.
“I understand the pressure points for lenders and where speed, precision, and risk management really count,” LJ said.
“It means I can help us refine not just how we deliver more streamlined legal services, but how we strategically align them to the needs of our clients and the realities of commercial lending.”
Nigel Mok was also welcomed to the firm, where he will head up its commercial lending team.
The firm said this announcement comes as industry conversations continue to focus on the speed and transparency of loan settlements, and as regulatory bodies tighten expectations.
Green said the firm’s vision has been to “deliver elite legal lending support that’s fast, accurate and future-ready”.
“As banks and brokers face increasing competition and compliance burdens, they need legal partners who can keep pace – both technically and technologically,” Green added.
