Fraser Bax (pictured) has joined Thynne + Macartney, having most recently served at HopgoodGanim Lawyers for nearly 12 years, including as a partner in family and relationship law.

He will head up Thynne + Macartney’s existing family law group, bringing expertise in complex financial disputes involving large asset pools, companies, and trusts, and a strong background advising clients with respect to financial agreements, the firm said in a statement.

Speaking about the appointment, Thynne + Macartney general manager Richard Knox said: “Fraser’s appointment as head of our family law group marks a significant milestone for our private client offering.”

“Growth has been a key strategy for Thynne + Macartney in 2025, with Fraser marking the third partner to join the ranks this year. We have been lucky to find in Fraser the skills and experience required to build an industry-leading practice at Thynne + Macartney.”

The firm’s chair of partners, Alex Ramsey, said: “Fraser is a strong leader, and we are continuously impressed by his legal acumen and cultural fit. We are confident our family law practice is in steady hands with Fraser at the helm.”

Thynne + Macartney has over 40 lawyers across its offices in Brisbane, Cairns, and Toowoomba.
