WHILE Greg Terry, former chief operating officer for Morgan Stanley in Asia, is qualified to practice in Victoria, England, Wales, Hong Kong and Washington State, his next post will be in the Jakarta office of Blake Dawson.

The firm hopes Terry’s new placement as an international partner will build the firm's regional presence as he “brings to the firm vast experience and a wonderful network, both in business and with regulators across the Asian region, and beyond”, said John Carrington, managing partner at Blake Dawson.

“[Terry's] experience in turn-arounds and advising businesses in previous financial down-turns will add further depth to our services in Asia and in Australia," he said.

The new appointment comes following Blake Dawson’s well-publicised staff cutbacks in Australia. A spokesperson said the decision “will assure that we are well placed to withstand the current economic downturn as well as position us to take full advantage of any upturn ahead. It's vital for business growth to make strategic investments and we would regard [Terry's] appointment in this way".
