Sparkes promotes four to partner
Sparke Helmore Lawyers has promoted four lawyers in its insurance and workplace groups to partner.
Maxine Tills, Mark Doepel, Nicholas Studdert and Roland Hassall were recognised as having made “outstanding contributions” to the firm, the firm’s national managing partner Jesse Webb said.

Tills is part of the insurance group in the firm’s Brisbane office. She practises in dispute resolution and specialises in professional indemnity and construction litigation. With more than 18 years’ experience in these areas of law, Tills has expertise in directors and officers liability insurance and advises insurers on policy coverage issues.
Doepel is based in Sparke’s Sydney office and is part of the insurance group. He has experience in professional indemnity litigation, directors and officers liability, and re-insurance. He has practised in these areas of law for more than 17 years, both in London and in Sydney. Doepel recently completed his Master of Laws, Master of Insurance and was made an ANZIIF Fellow in 2012.
Studdert is also part of Sparke’s insurance group in Sydney. He has been with the firm since 2007 and advises insurers, employers and their intermediaries on issues arising from claims in the statutory classes of insurance.
Hassall is based in Sydney also and has been with the firm since 1992. He has extensive expertise in all areas concerning employment law; particularly termination, restraint and discrimination/harassment issues. He has worked in complementary areas of law, including occupational health and safety and insurance.
