The firm made two lateral hires, poaching insurance partner Jonathan Newby from McCabes and also nabbing special counsel and construction lawyer Jonathan Stafford from Clayton Utz.

The firm also made three internal appointments in the insurance team: Sydney-based Melissa Fenton and Kemsley Brennan and Melbourne-based Patrick Tuohey were all promoted to partner.

The appointments took effect on 1 January.

Managing partner Dunstan de Souza welcomed the new appointments.

"We are delighted that Melissa, Patrick and Kemsley have been promoted to partnership and that Jonathan Newby and Jonathan Stafford have decided to join our firm," he said.

“I am sure that these talented lawyers will make a huge contribution in their new roles and we welcome them warmly to the partnership."
